I have Paviolion 14-bf100nx 8th Gen i7. I am trying to install Samsung SSD 970 EVO m.2 but it is not recognized by system/bios/windows 10 installation.
the SSD is recognized by older model for the same series 7th gen and can be recognized by other laptops but not this one!!!.
i tried contacting hp support (chat) but no help by thier team.

See p. 2 of the Manual here:
Only SATA-type M.2 SSDs are compatible, not PCIe/NVME so the motherboard has no ability to interface with the 970 Evo. You need to get an 860 Evo or similar drive. I would be curious to know the exact model number of the 7th gen machine the 970 works with as nothing from the 14-bfxxx series should have that ability.
Post back with any other questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.

thanks for the quick reply Huffer.
unfortunatly i sold the previous one but it was the same serise 7th gen i7 with 128 ssd +1 TB HDD and 17 gb ram
it is the almost the same model number.
HP that time told me (at that time) 960 evo is not supported but it some guy installed it and it was working perfect
this was 2+ years ago.
you can check this link i think (maybe) this is the older model
thanks

The devil is in the details. An NVME M.2 is either compatible or not with specific models. Saying it worked on another model really adds nothing to the conversation. For this laptop we are talking about now it is not compatible. SATA only.
