HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The screen of my HP Spectre X360 is getting smudged due to support rubbers present on the keyboard side.

Whenever I close my laptop this support rubber always leaves a mark on the Laptop screen.

Is this actually a design fault or is it because it is manufactured in China?

How can HP not think of this design fault.

Being such a big company they should have given a screen protector with the device but nevertheless, cost cutting by HP for such a high end product is not acceptable.

I have had  multiple Spectre notebooks as loaner products and have owned a few as well.

I have never experienced nor heard of what you have described.

The Spectre series is  indeed a premium  notebook.  Mine were delivered with a screen protector between the screen and keyboard.

I tossed my screen protector long ago.

No one else has ever authored a thread with the subject yours had.

That there have been many thousands of threads in the Community forum.

You might  consider that you or someone else with access to the notebook did not notice it, but had something on their fingers and inadvertently touched  the tiny screen supports, leaving something there that is causing the smudges.

If smudges on the screen were a trending issue we would have seen other threads like yours.

Please refer below, I was honestly expecting a better solution than the answer you gave but sadly.

While using my device I noticed 4 prominent marks on the display screen due to the small support rubbers present around the keyboard frame.

Position of small support rubber: Top left above "esc" button, top right above "delete" button, mid left and mid right beside the trackpad towards edge.

EVERYTIME after I reopen the laptop I can see the laptop screen slightly smudged due to these rubbers. Supposedly because the screen, when closed rest on these rubbers.

Is it supposed to be like this? how can HP not think of this while making a high end laptop?

or since it is assembled somewhere in china this is a construction fault?

This is the previous post ple

Dear HP,

I just bought laptop almost 2 months in US from bestbuy ohio, I started using few weeks ago when I came back to Pakistan

the quality of is laptop i feel is pretty **bleep**e, one the hinge cover has slight dent(hard to take in picture), the pc gets so hot sometimes, the screen wobbles if u have a ceiling fan on,,,

And today, literally, 30 mins ago, I was wiping down the screen and i felt this small line/spot, I tried to remove it even with alcohol swap but it doesnt, even used finger nails etc. I thought maybe some rubber/plastic residue is stuck, but apparently no thats not the case...

The two rubbers on the palm rest on which the lid rests when u close it; turns out they kinda done some sort of permanent damage to the glass... both the left side and right side of the glass/screen

Please tell what to do with this crap machine. I have literally may have used it for 20 days in last 40 days since i came back to Pakistan...

You know, it would have helped if you had let me know that you have had the notebook for just a few months.

I am not HP and I do not have ESP nor the ability to see things through the ethernet.

Now that you have further described the issue, it sounds as if there could perhaps be a hinge issue.

I would have contacted HP directly via the contact Hp link on the support portal for your notebook.

I have asked a Moderator if assistance coudl be given to put you in contact with the appropriate team to help you. This sounds like a warranty issue to me.
