I have an HP envy 15 touchsmart laptop, and i upgraded the msata ssd so i could use it as the boot drive. How do i change the boot order so the SSD boots first. In bios, it just has generic options such as HDD, cd/dvd, usb or external drive, but doesnt give options for specific drives. How do i go about doing this, the MSSD is viewable in windows file explorer, so it is working properly. Thanks for the help!

Hi Sparkles1
Thanks for the links.
But wasn't useful. Because when i change the boot order to OS boot manager, my PC start with my HDD and I want the Pc start with SSD.
I already install the Windows 8 on SSD, if it helps you.

I suggest to remove the hard disk, boot to the mSATA drive to Win and uninstall all the Intel Storage Technology Drivers etc. Then install the HDD again and see what's up. I don't use Windows 8 and never will so can't tell you any more info on this matter..

Hi Sparkles1,
There is an issue with using a mSATA SSD as a boot drive because it wasn't designed as one. The main purpose of the mSATA SSD was only cache for the main hard drive. Well, that's ok but hard drives these days have some SSD cache already built-in so there is no need for a special cache. The mSATA SSD should be used as a main drive but the BIOS has only limited settings so HP should deal with Insyde and implement some changes to the BIOS for the mSATA as a boot option..

HI pepe99:
Thank you for your response.
After doing some further research, it is a limitation of the bios. If you have already done a bios update, and that does not provide the required option, then it is just not possible with this computer.

This feature should never have been stripped out of the BIOS in the first place. And I say stripped out because that is what has happened. I have ancient computers that didn't even have msata ports that allowed you to choose boot order. While we are at it, why in the world was the option for toggling the video cards in the bios removed? The only thing that truly sucks about this computer is their truly terrible bios.
