Hi @giusee123

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

We're here to help you get back up and running.

I hear your concern—it’s frustrating when a recovery tool doesn’t behave as expected, especially when you’re relying on it to restore the BIOS.

Before we move into any fixes, let’s carefully gather the details so we can isolate what’s happening:

  • Which exact HP model are you working with (for example, HP Spectre x360, HP Omen, HP Pavilion, etc.)?
  • What operating system version is installed (Windows 10, Windows 11, and which build)?
  • Did you download the sp132835 package directly from the HP support site for your model, or from another source?
  • When you say the extracted file is “864E,” does it appear as an executable (.exe) or another type of file?
  • Are you running the extraction and recovery attempt from within Windows, or from a USB recovery environment?
  • Has the BIOS recovery been triggered because of a failed update, or is the system currently unable to boot?
  • Have you tried extracting the package on another PC to see if the file behaves differently?

Once we have these details, we’ll be able to pinpoint whether the issue is with the package itself, the environment you’re running it in, or the system state.
