15-dy1024wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good morning everyone, how are you doing?

I recently bought an HP Notebook 15-dy1024wm from Amazon and after changing the W10 Home from the S Mode to the normal mode it is working fine.

I want to upgrade it and I already bought an HP DDR$ 8 Gb Ram memory and I also want a bigger SSD disk.

I found this one in Amazon which is highly recommended and I must know if it is compatible with my notebook SSD sockets because I saw in Youtube a video showing 3 different M.s sockets designs:

Samsung (MZ-V7E500BW) 970 EVO SSD 500GB - M.2 NVMe Interface Internal Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-500GB-MZ-V7E500BW/dp/B07BN4NJ2J/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=...

Please let me know if I could buy this item and have no problems.

Best and warm regards,

Florin

@FlorinSafnerVE Here's a list of parts tested and approved by HP to work on your device, that said, I do have a little disclaimer before we get into the details: I must let you know that HP does not recommend upgrades or hardware changes as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance by design, that said, the upgradeable parts listed by HP articles are purely for your ease, as the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion.

That out of the way, here's the list & for more details on replacing the SSD among others: click here and refer to page. 31 of Chapter 5 Removal and replacement procedures for authorized service provider parts

(NVMe Not supported, I'm afraid the SSD from your link may or may not work)

you may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, If you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.

Dear Riddle,

Thank you so much for your professional guiding.

Following your advice and specs I've found in Amazon an HP similar disk:

https://www.amazon.com/HP-EX920-Internal-2YY46AA-ABC/dp/B0795X5HJL

Now, I am confused because you mentioned that in my Notebook 15-dy1024wm the NVMe is not supported.

My Amazon search was for a 512 GB, PCIe, TLC disk and this link shows me that item is a TLC (what's this?) but also has the NVMe feature. So, it's good or bad? In fact I never found my laptop SSD brand name, model and specifications, just SSD M2 disk.

I must buy in Amazon because I have some gift cards funds there.

Any idea?

Best,

Florin

Hi Riddle.

If you'd dispose of some minutes please check the above Amazon's HP SSD disk and let me know if I could buy it. Many thanks.

Hello

Here there are some useful updates for the ones who own the HP Notebook 15-dy1024wm and other models of the 15-dy  and 15-du series:

1. this notebook has not a second M2 slot so do not waste time looking for a similar one. Maybe you just could clone the 128 Gb to a bigger size if you want to keep this M2 slot working.

2. unfortunately the notebook has anything inside for the HD upgrade, no bracket, no connecting 8 pins ribbon, nothing. You must buy this separately. You must buy a common SSD 2.5" disk but not a M2.

3. the service manual do not indicate this, what you need , parts code numbers etc etc. Very poor.

4. Searching for days I found the right 8 pins connector in Amazon:
