 I have an HP 15-AY100nf and I want to change the hard disk to with an SSD drive. 

I would like to know if the samsung 860 evo and the samsung 970 evo are compatible or not.

Hold on before you buy anything. See p. 66 of the manual here:

2 things you need to know:

1. M.2 must be SATA not PCIe/NVME so the Samsung 970 is a no-go. 

2. There is no dedicated M.2 slot. The only way to put an M.2 in it is to use an M.2 adapter sled/caddy/bracket that attaches to the motherboard the same way as the hard drive caddy. 

So...in order to have an M.2 you have to buy extra parts which may or may not be easily available. Since you have to use a SATA disk anyway, get a 2.5 inch SATA SSD such as the 860 Evo 2.5 inch version:

Performance will be exactly the same as an M.2 disk attached by a cable to a zif connector on the motherboard and you need no additional parts to add the 2.5 inch, but you have to get rid of the spinning hard drive.
