@Sparky2020

HP uses drives from few vendors. It is much better to use Device Manager to find model and brand of the existing one and buy the same brand and series but larger capacity.  For example

My HP machine uses Toshiba M.2 SATA SSD. I can upgrade to larger (capacity) drive using Toshiba, same series such as

Why only 500GB, it will full and you have to upgrade again.

Regards.

Thanks for the reply.  I realize you can never have too much memory but on a budget 😀  Also, I realize memory is not all equal.  Your suggestion makes sense.  The cheapest I could find was $109 opened box or $158 new but maybe there are other options?  I see the memory for yours is twice as fast as mine?  The one currently installed is Liteon cv1-8B256-HP.    I have not opened up the laptop yet but from the manual, it is a bit confusing if it uses an adapter for the SSD module  where the HDD would normally sit or it has a separate slot elsewhere?   Never upgraded memory before so fumbling a bit.Capture.PNG
