touchsmart520
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have an HP touchsmary 520-1020 running W8.1

Bios - LAV_712. ROM v7.12

SYS BD 2AC3 1.04

Currently I am running P4 G620 2,6Ghz dual core, tried upgrading to P4 17-2600 3.4 Ghz SR00B quad core and I get msg it's unsupported.

HP shows the 17-2600s quad as supported, is there a differnce between the two or maybe do I have a bad (a working pull from ebay) CPU?

Tks, Ed

The i7-2600s is not the same as an i7-2600:

The 2600 needs 95w vs. 65w for the 2600s which explains why the 2600 would not work on that board.
