@TS_syrus29

Firstly NOTEBOOKS and LAPTOPS are the same way we called portable computers. I don't know what are tour machine BUT  you can se ( 4GB DDR-3200 MHz RAM) and (8GB DDR4-2400SDRAM) do not run at the same speed.

Again, we need to know your MACHINES. What are they ?

Regards.

My old laptop is an HP Notebook 15 dw0037wm, the memory is 8GB DDR4-2400SDRAM  and the new laptop is an HP laptop 15 fd0083wm with a 4GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM. I want to try and a upgrade the 4gb to an 8gb. I'm trying to see if my old laptop parts are compatible for the new one if that makes sense. They both are Hp laptops

Not compatible. The older DDR4-2400 would fit but you would degrade performace quite a bit by replacing -3200 speed memory with -2400 speed which defeats your purpose of upgrading.

Could I use the 1tb from the old laptop to put in the new one?

Sorry no on that, too. The new one only takes NVME M.2 storage sometimes called "gumstick" SSDs. Your old one has a 1 TB mechanical 2.5 inch wide spinning hard drive. No means to fit that in the new laptop and attach it.
