Hi @DESKTOP-JH3UKJV

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the HP Hotkey Support software is interfering with your brightness controls even though the brightness adjustment itself works fine. Here's how you can resolve this issue:

1. Disable HP Hotkey Support Notifications:

  • Open the HP Hotkey Support settings (if available in the system tray or by searching in the Start Menu).
  • Look for any option to disable notifications or reduce the pop-ups.

2. Uninstall/Reinstall HP Hotkey Support:

  • Press Windows + X and select Apps and Features.
  • Scroll through the list and find HP Hotkey Support.
  • Select it and click Uninstall.
  • Restart your laptop, and check if the brightness control works without the pop-up. If necessary, you can reinstall the HP Hotkey Support software from HP's support website.

3. Disable HP Hotkey Support from Startup:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab.
  • Find HP Hotkey Support in the list and right-click it, then select Disable.
  • This will stop it from running at startup but allow the brightness controls to work.

4. Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Ensure your system’s drivers and BIOS are up to date. Sometimes older versions of HP software can cause these types of conflicts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
