Hi @2003maisie2003,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your iPhone is not charging when connected to your HP laptop via its USB port, here are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
Check the USB Port:
- Ensure that the USB port is functional. Test it with another device (like a flash drive or another phone).
- Try a different USB port on the laptop.
Inspect the Cable and Charger:
- Confirm that your iPhone charging cable is functional by using it with a wall adapter or another device.
- If possible, try using a different charging cable.
Verify Charging Mode:
- Ensure the laptop is powered on and not in sleep mode, as some laptops may not provide power to USB ports when in sleep or hibernation.
Enable USB Power:
- Some laptops have a feature to allow USB charging even when the device is off or asleep. Check your laptop's BIOS/UEFI settings and enable any "USB charging" or "Always On USB" features.
Restart Your Laptop and iPhone:
- Restart both devices to rule out temporary software issues.
Update Drivers:
- Ensure that your laptop's USB drivers are up to date:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click each USB driver and select Update driver.
Inspect iPhone Settings:
- Ensure that your iPhone is set to allow charging from the laptop. If you see a "Trust This Computer?" prompt on your iPhone, select Trust.
Check Power Output:
- USB ports on some laptops may not provide enough power to charge an iPhone, especially if other devices are connected. Disconnect other USB devices and try again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
