This time im not even bothering to try fix it but would like to know why hp keeps forcing this stupid software on us . i dont understand why they do it . i would of thought they would of liked people to use their equipment , but obviously not . i suppose ive already asked but why do they insist on hacking me and reinstalling this rubbish in the services

Hi @jenko69,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It can indeed be frustrating when preinstalled or manufacturer-specific software seems to reinstall itself without user consent. Here's why it happens and what you can do about it.
Why Does HP Software Reinstall Itself?
- Automatic Updates: HP devices, like many other manufacturers, often come with software designed to enhance functionality or provide support. These services sometimes auto-update or reinstall if removed, especially when firmware updates or driver updates occur.
- System Recovery and Maintenance Tools: HP’s recovery tools or system maintenance utilities might detect the absence of certain software they consider essential and reinstall them.
- Windows Update Integration: Some HP utilities are tied to Windows updates, which can result in their reinstallation during system updates.
- Default Settings: Certain software may be hard-coded to reinstall as part of the factory image, making it persist even after manual removal.
What Can You Do to Stop This?
Disable HP Services:
- Open the Services app (Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter).
- Look for HP-related services (e.g., HP Support Assistant, HP JumpStart).
- Right-click on the service, choose Properties, and set the Startup type to Disabled.
Uninstall HP Software:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features or Settings > Apps.
- Uninstall unwanted HP programs like HP Support Assistant or HP System Event Utility.
Prevent Reinstallation:
- Use Group Policy Editor (for Windows Pro or Enterprise):
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer.
- Enable the policy "Disable Windows Installer for removable media drives" or set restrictions.
- Alternatively, use third-party tools like Revo Uninstaller to perform a deep removal.
Block via Firewall or Network:
- Restrict HP-related software from accessing the internet using the Windows Firewall. This can prevent automatic updates.
Remove from Scheduled Tasks:
- Open Task Scheduler (Win + R, type taskschd.msc, and press Enter).
- Check for tasks related to HP software and disable them.

Update BIOS/UEFI:
- If the problem persists, ensure your BIOS/UEFI firmware is up to date. Sometimes, manufacturer firmware contains fixes for overly aggressive software behaviors.
Why Does HP Do This?
HP likely sees this software as beneficial for:
- Providing updates for drivers and firmware.
- Offering support tools to troubleshoot or maintain the device.
- Ensuring optimal performance for the average user.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
