Issue Description:
I am facing an issue with the touchpad on my HP laptop. The two-finger scrolling feature is not working. I have tried restarting the laptop and checking touchpad settings, but the issue still persists. The touchpad works for single-finger movement and clicking, but gestures like two-finger scrolling do not respond.

Details:

Device: HP Laptop (please include your model number, e.g., HP Pavilion 15 / HP Envy x360)

Operating System: (e.g., Windows 11 / Windows 10)

Driver Status: Touchpad driver appears to be installed, but gesture control is not functioning.

Troubleshooting tried: Restarted device, updated drivers, checked touchpad settings in Windows → Settings → Bluetooth & Devices → Touchpad.

Request:
Please assist in resolving the two-finger scrolling issue or guide me on reinstalling the correct touchpad driver/software.

@taurn31513, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check the Touchpad Settings in Windows

You’ve already checked the touchpad settings, but let's make sure you’ve gone through all the correct menus to enable two-finger scrolling.

Open Settings:

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touchpad.

Enable Two-Finger Scrolling:

Scroll down in the Touchpad settings window to see if there’s a section for Gestures or Scrolling.

Make sure Two-finger scrolling is enabled.

Also check if there’s a setting for Pinch to Zoom (sometimes this setting needs to be enabled separately for gestures to work properly).

Update or Reinstall the Touchpad Driver

Update the Touchpad Driver:

Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).

Find the Mice and other pointing devices category, expand it, and right-click on your Touchpad device (usually something like "Synaptics" or "ELAN" depending on the manufacturer).

Click Update driver and choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Reinstall the Touchpad Driver (if updating doesn't work):

In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad device under Mice and other pointing devices and choose Uninstall device.

After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the correct driver upon reboot.

Alternatively, you can manually download the latest touchpad drivers from HP’s official website.

HP's official driver download page:
Go to HP's Support page and enter your laptop’s model number to find the latest drivers.

Check HP Software for Touchpad Configuration

Open HP Support Assistant:

If you have HP Support Assistant installed on your laptop, open it and check for any available updates for drivers or software specific to the touchpad.

Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes, the issue could be related to a bug in Windows that may be fixed with an update.

Go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates.

Install any available updates, especially ones related to device drivers or the operating system itself.

Disable and Re-enable the Touchpad

Some users report success by disabling and then re-enabling the touchpad, which can sometimes reset gesture functions.

Open Device Manager.

Under Mice and other pointing devices, right-click your touchpad device.

Select Disable.

Wait for a few seconds and then Enable it again.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
