Hello the touch pad on my hp envy laptop is not working. I cannot see the pointer on my laptop when i move my finger around the rectangular touchpad. It was working perfectly well yesterday and i have not dropped or damaged the laptop between yesterday and today. Acccording to this website all my drivers are up to date. Can anyone suggest a solution ?  i dont know if i accidently switched it off. If i did switch it off how do i switch it on again ?

Its very difficult to use the laptop without the touchpad to mover the pointer around the screen

@hi2u_uk1980, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Windows Settings

Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.

Make sure the Touchpad toggle is set to On. If it's turned off, switch it to On.

Also, check for any touchpad-related settings that might have been changed.

Use Device Manager to Re-enable the Touchpad

Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.

In Device Manager, expand the "Mice and other pointing devices" section.

Look for your touchpad driver (it may be listed as something like "Synaptics" or "ELAN" depending on your model).

Right-click on the driver and choose Enable device (if it’s listed as "disabled").

If it is enabled, try right-clicking and selecting Update driver to ensure it's fully updated.

Check for Driver or Software Issues

Even if you’ve checked for updates, it’s worth uninstalling the touchpad driver and reinstalling it.

In Device Manager, right-click on the touchpad driver and select Uninstall device.

Then, restart the laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the touchpad driver.

Perform a System Restore (if necessary)

If the issue started after a recent update or software change, you might want to perform a System Restore:

Go to Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced Startup.

Choose Restart now, and select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.

Restore to a point before the issue started.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Screenshot 2025-05-12 002409.jpgWhen I go to windows settings I see  bluetooth and devices. I do not see devices. There is no touchpad option when I go to bluetooth and devices. I can see an option that says touch  but this seems to be about two/three finger touch gestures and side of screen gestures. I cannot see anything about touchpad

In device manager I do not have a line that says mice and other pointing devices

I have tried to do the system restore however it seems that when I set up the laptop I did not enable system restore so the laptop says that it has no points to restore it to

Hey @hi2u_uk1980,

Thank you for your response

Thanks for providing the details.

Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager

If the driver is missing or hidden:

Open Device Manager.

Click View > Show hidden devices.

Check again for any section that says "Mice and other pointing devices" or anything with Synaptics, ELAN, or HID-compliant touchpad.

If it appears grayed out, right-click it and choose Enable.

Install HP Touchpad Driver Manually

The driver may have been uninstalled or corrupted.

Go to the official HP driver support page for the HP ENVY x360 15-ed0007na:
HP Drivers & Software - HP ENVY x360 15-ed0007na

Under “Driver – Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices”, download and install the Synaptics or ELAN touchpad driver.

After installation, restart the laptop.

Use HP Hardware Diagnostics (Pre-Boot)

Let’s check if the touchpad is working at the hardware level.

Shut down the laptop.

Press Esc repeatedly while starting it up, until the Startup Menu appears.

Press F2 for System Diagnostics.

Run the Component Tests > Input Devices > Touchpad Test (if available).

If it fails here, it may indicate a hardware issue.

Reset BIOS Settings to Default

In case the touchpad is disabled in the BIOS:

Reboot and press Esc > F10 to enter BIOS.

Use arrow keys to navigate and look for Internal Pointing Device or Touchpad under Advanced tab.

Ensure it's Enabled.

Press F9 to reset BIOS to defaults, then F10 to save and exit.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

I am sorry however this response is not helping to resolve the problem

I have tried the suggestion under the show hidden devices heading. Please see the picture attached. Under "Mice and other pointing devices" there is nothing which says Synaptics, ELAN, or HID-compliant touchpad.

I have been to the driver website on the hp website however every single time i try to download one of the drivers it says that it is not supported
Please see attached pictures. I have windows 11 are these drivers for windows 11 ??? why is it saying that all of them are not supported

In relation to the suggestions you have made under the heading of HP Hardware diagnostics . This test does not work

In relation to the suggestion  to reset bios settings to default. When I go to try to reset the BIOS settings there is no advanced tab. The only tab I can see is main, security, configuration, boot options and exit tabs. There is no tab called advanced and I cannot see internal pointing device or touchpad under these options. I have provided a picture
