Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

some time ago i got a notice about win11. i posted that on the win10 forum and at that time i was told it was a hoax. well now it seems to be real. anyway i downloaded the compatibility app and it looks like my tpm is 1.2 and my processor is AMD A4-3310MX APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 2.10 GHz and my secure boot is legacy but i think i can change that on all my probooks to the uefi and i'm hoping i might be able to get a new cpu for them but i can't find a way to upgrade the tpm.

“Legacy” BIOS (also known as “CSM” Mode) to UEFI/BIOS (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface)

i had to change hard drives some time back and i changed the boot from uefi to legacy so windows would let me register the os. so now i guess i can change it back but if i can't do that then in a few years i may be screwed and have to spring for newer pcs. kind of like chromebook did when they just stopped supporting the older perfectly good chrome book because they were not selling many newer books. so now it looks like widows is doing the same thing to make us junk out perfectly good running pcs.

anyway does anyone happen to know if windows may provide updates for the tpm driver for the older pcs or maybe the mfg. of them? according the the pc health app all the rest of my pcs are good but for the tpm and the cpu and i'm hoping hp will have a compatible cpu for my probooks that win11 likes. i have 6470b 6465b and 6460b probooks. thanks bp

Hi:

Your notebook is not on the list of supported PC's eligible for the TPM 1.2 firmware update to TPM 2.0.

The only AMD processors that are supported by W11 are the ones on the list below and they are all soldered to the motherboards, so none would work in your notebook.

thanks so it sounds like none of my laptops will run the new win11 so i have 5 years or so to see if any linux operating systems will come out and be easier to run than the couple i have tried so far, i tried mint 20.2 but it is like win 3 was back when if you wanted to install a program you had to open the command window and keyboard all day to get it to run. or i might just find some decent laptops on ebay by then. i'm not going to spend hundreds of bucks on a new pc just to have it go obsolete a few years later because the makers are not selling them fast enough and talk windows into changing the os to make it so we again have to get new pcs. chromebooks did that a few years ago after they said they were going to keep updating there os for security then they changed that fast. anyway thanks for the info.
