Hi,

The service manual mentions 8GB max, but I believe you can install 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (2x8GB)

There are two slots and your PC came with one 4GB module. You can purchase from your preferred brand.

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-17-p121wm#MEMORYFilters

On page 54 of service manual you can see the steps to upgrade RAM

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04777516

You could also upgrade the 2.5" HDD to a 2.5" SSD which would give an extra boost to everyday performance.

Hope it helps,

David

After I installed the RAM, I get a blue screen error message and my laptop keeps restarting.

Hi,

What RAM did you purchase?

If you leave only one stick what happens?

Are you using the new module together with old module?

Let me know,

David
