Hi @nickyer,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble downloading the driver for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer on macOS Monterey (12), here’s what you can do to resolve the issue:
1. Use Apple AirPrint
macOS often supports HP printers via AirPrint, which doesn’t require additional drivers. Follow these steps:
Check if your printer supports AirPrint:
- The HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 supports AirPrint.
Add the printer using AirPrint:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Click the + button to add a printer.
- Select your printer from the list.
- Under "Use," choose AirPrint.
- Click Add.
2. Download the Latest Driver
If AirPrint is not suitable and you need the HP driver:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter OfficeJet Pro 8710 in the search bar.
- Download the driver specific to macOS Monterey:
- Choose macOS 12 Monterey from the OS options.
- Download the HP Easy Start app or the printer-specific driver.
3. Install the HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
The HP Smart App simplifies printer setup and management:
- Download the app from the Mac App Store.
- Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer.
4. Manually Add Printer Drivers
If you’ve downloaded the driver but can’t install it:
- Check your Downloads folder for the .dmg file.
- Open it and follow the prompts.
- Restart your Mac after installation.
5. Reset the Printing System
If your Mac doesn’t detect the printer:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click on the printer list and select Reset Printing System.
- Re-add your printer.
6. Check Compatibility Issues
HP drivers might not be compatible with macOS Monterey. If so:
- Update your macOS to the latest version (System Preferences > Software Update).
- Check for printer firmware updates via the HP Smart App.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
