Hi @ybbacan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Updating the UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), also known as BIOS, on your HP ENVY x360 M6 laptop is an important process that can bring improvements and fixes to your system. However, updating the UEFI can also be risky, so it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. Here's a general guideline on how to update your UEFI.
Note: Before proceeding, ensure your laptop is connected to a stable power source, as interrupting the UEFI update process can potentially brick your computer.
Identify the Current UEFI Version:
- Restart your laptop.
- During startup, you might see a message briefly indicating the current UEFI version or a key to press to enter the UEFI/BIOS setup. Typically, it's the F10, F12, or Esc key. Press the appropriate key to access the UEFI/BIOS setup.
Check the Current UEFI Version:
- Once in the UEFI/BIOS setup, look for a section that displays the current UEFI version. Note down this information.
Visit HP's Support Website:
- Open a web browser and go to HP's official support website (support.hp.com).
Locate Your Laptop Model:
- Enter your laptop model, "ENVY x360 M6," in the search bar or use the provided options to find your specific laptop model.
Download the Latest UEFI Update:
- Once you've located your laptop model, navigate to the "Drivers and Software" section.
- Look for a category like "BIOS" or "UEFI Firmware." Find the latest UEFI update available for your laptop model.
- Download the UEFI update file to your computer. It's usually a .exe or .bin file.
Prepare a Bootable USB Drive (Optional):
- In some cases, you may need to create a bootable USB drive to update the UEFI. If so, follow HP's instructions for creating a bootable USB drive and copying the UEFI update file onto it.
Perform the UEFI Update:
- Restart your laptop.
- During startup, press the key (usually F10, F12, or Esc) to enter the UEFI/BIOS setup.
- Navigate to the section for updating the UEFI/BIOS.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to select the UEFI update file you downloaded and initiate the update process.
Wait for the Update to Complete:
- The UEFI update process may take a few minutes. Do not turn off or restart your laptop during this time.
Verify the Updated UEFI Version:
- After the update is complete, restart your laptop.
- Enter the UEFI/BIOS setup again to verify that the UEFI version has been updated to the latest version.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
