Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop already has 8gb of ram but what is the most amount of ram that I can upgrade too.

HP Recommended

Maintenance and Service Guide says it supports 16gb of memory. You "could" replace 1 of the 4gb with an 8gb but you run the risk of conflict with mismatched ram and best performance is seen with a matched pair of dual channel memory:
