Hi @bhatta,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Upgrading your HP PC with an SSD and additional RAM can significantly improve performance. Here’s a general guide to help you through the process:

1. Identify Compatible Components

  • Check Your Current Specs: Use tools like CPU-Z or Speccy to check your current RAM and storage specifications.
  • Find Compatible SSD: Look for SATA or NVMe SSDs, depending on your motherboard. You can usually find this information in your PC’s manual or on the HP support website.
  • Determine RAM Compatibility: Check the type (DDR4, DDR3, etc.), speed (e.g., 2400 MHz), and maximum capacity your motherboard can support.

2. Purchase the Upgrades

  • SSD: Choose a reputable brand like Samsung, Crucial, or Western Digital.
  • RAM: Look for memory from brands like Corsair, Kingston, or Crucial that matches your specifications.

3. Backup Your Data

  • Before making any changes, ensure you back up important data to avoid loss during the upgrade process.

4. Installation Steps

  • Install the SSD:
    1. Power off the PC and unplug it.
    2. Open the case (follow the manufacturer’s guidelines).
    3. Locate the drive bay or M.2 slot, depending on your SSD type.
    4. Secure the SSD in place and connect it to the motherboard if necessary.
  • Install the RAM:
    1. Locate the RAM slots on the motherboard.
    2. Release the clips on the existing RAM sticks and remove them if replacing.
    3. Align the new RAM sticks with the slots and press down until the clips click into place.

5. Reassemble and Boot Up

  • Close the case, reconnect all cables, and power on the PC.
  • Enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F10, F2, or Delete during boot) to check if the new components are recognized.

6. Install Operating System (if necessary)

  • If you installed an SSD, you may need to install an operating system. You can do this via a USB drive or recovery media.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
