I want to upgrade my old desktop computer with an  internal Solid State Drive.

There are many  internal Solid State Drive on the market  a can not know which is the best and compatible with my  motherboard.(Joshua-H61-uATX (Joshua).

Which internal Solid State Drive should I buy for make my computer faster during  startup and open the app faster. My concern is with make my computer faster, and I do not care much about computer games and store my date in the internal hard driver. ( I use a external hard driver to store my data)

What that means is the SATA controllet is only SATA 2.

A SSD will still be better than a mechanical hard drive,  but it will only run at the SATA 2 speed, and not the faster SATA 3 speed.

Hi:

This SSD provides the best performance for the price, IMHO.

This is the 500 GB model.

WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD Unità allo Stato Solido Interna 2.5", 500 GB : Amazon.it: Informatica

You will need to also purchase a 3.5" to 2.5" drive adapter so the smaller SSD fits where your PC's current hard drive mounts.

Where I can find the  adapter _.

I find this in Amazon, but I am not sure.

https://www.amazon.it/Sabrent-Drive-Desktop-converter-serraggio/dp/B00UN550AC/ref=asc_df_B00UN550AC/...

I upload the speed image of my hard drive.
Can you tell me, more or less how much my computer speed increases on startup and waking up from hibernation . These two things are very slow on my computer. When I use the computer, the performance is good. I use the Windows 10 debloat operating system.

Hi:

Yes that adapter should work.

Here are other options you can look into.

Amazon.it : Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket 3.5" CSSD-BRKT2, Black

The boot time should be less than 25 seconds with a solid state drive.

Where you see the sequential read and write speeds (1st and 2nd lines), they should be at least double with a SSD.

Do you know what SATA speed the SATA port on the motherboard is?

The Joshua motherboard may only be SATA II.

Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below to see what SATA speed your PC's drive is running at.

Look at my screenshot below and see this report...you want to see the same...SATA 6 Gb/s @ 6 Gb/s

Then the top speed of sata 2 is 300MB/s. This means, the speed of the SSD will be no more the 300MBs regardless the real speed of the SSD. If so the speed of my computer will be double.

Yes, that is about right. .

I have SSD'S in a couple of desktop PC'S with SATA 2 controllers, and they work much faster than the mechanical hard drives did.

Best thing I ever did was to add SSD'S to those PC's.

What you thing if i buy a sata3 pci express card.
Can I get the full speed of a SSD with the new card?
If so, what card should I buy?

This is what i found in amazon.

BEYIMEI da PCI-E a SATA3.0 Scheda di espansione del Disco Rigido, Scheda di espansione Controller PCIe-SATA, interfaccia SATA6GB Supporta SSD e HDD, Adatto per WinXP/Vista/Win7/Win8/Win10/LINUX.

My Idea is to buy first the SSD and if I am not satisfied of the performance, I  can buy the card later. If I can do that I will buy the SSD . But if I can not upgrade from sata 2 to sata 3. I will not. If I buy a SSD I want to enjoy  the full speed of it.

Hi:

Unfortunately, I don't know if the PC's Joshua motherboard will boot from a device in a PCI express slot, so I cannot advise you as to whether or not you can do it.

I would buy the SSD, and move it to a newer PC in the future that has a SATA 3 controller.
