You can  add an M.2(2280) PCIe NVMe Gen 4 SSD.  It will need to be single sided.

Here is an online source for SSD and memory for your laptop

Hi, @TECHLEARNERS

I have two bits of info you should be aware of.

1.  Your notebook's M.2 slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0, so while a Gen 4 SSD will work, it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

I believe the max read/write speed out of a PCIe Gen 3.0 slot is 3,500 MBPS.

2.  The HP 15-da0xxx and HP 250 G7 notebooks M.2 slots only use two PCIe lanes.

This fact has been reported by many forum members that have installed NVMe SSD's in those models.

What this means in the terms of performance is that a PCIe 4.0 SSD that has a maximum read/write speed out of the Gen 3 slot of 3,500 MBPS will only run at a maximum of half that speed.

The good news is, even at say, 1,750 MBPS read/write speed, that is about 3x faster than a SATA SSD would perform at.

Below is the link to the service manual.
