Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I would like to upgrade RAM and SSD.

RAM: what is the max capacity( can I go for 64GB?), and type and frequency

For example I am looking at: Corsair VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB, DDR4, 3600MHz, CL18 Memory Kit

SSD: what is the type: NVMe, M.2.?

For example I am looking at:  Solid State Drive (SSD) Samsung 980 PRO Gen.4, 2TB, NVMe, M.2.

Thanks

Radu

Hi, Radu:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that max memory is 2 x 16 GB.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

I don't recommend buying memory that has a faster CL speed than the memory HP installed in your notebook, since the BIOS is locked down and you can't adjust the memory XMP profile.

If the notebook can't automatically adjust to the faster memory timing, it will not boot up.

Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below and it should provide the CL speed of the memory HP installed.

It is probably CL22.

Your notebook has support for two M.2 NVMe SSD's.

The primary SSD slot is PCie Gen 4.0, but the secondary slot may only be PCIe 3.0 (a PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD will work fine but only at around a max speed of 3,500 MBPS).

A 2 TB drive should work fine, although HP only offered drives up to 1 TB in the model series.

The Crucial memory/SSD report for the model series indicate they sell NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB and that 2 x 32 GB of memory is supported which is not in agreement with the service manual.

So, it is very possible that 64 GB of memory would work.
