cpu  Intel Core i7 @ 2.70GHz 
Kaby Lake-U/Y 14nm Technology 

motherboard HP 81FF (U3E1)

 OS Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Ram  8gb(2x4)    i have 2 ram slots

MyQuestion    what is the total ram that  i can upgrade  ie is it 8gb or 16gb or 32 gb ?

Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations
● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)
● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)
● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)
● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2)

I would go with the 2400.  If you buy a memory module that is faster than what's already installed then the new memory will run at the lower speed, so I wouldn't go higher.  Buffered/ECC is RAM that you'd use for more high performance/critical machines and is not necessary for most home users.
