i have this laptop  HP G6, motherboard  hewlett packard (model:166F) . does this board compatible with  intel 3rd generation like  core i3 ?

That is not the model number. We need G6-xxxx or the Product number to tell what processors you can install or if the processor is even upgradeable.

Here's the Manual:

This model spans a couple generations so upgrading requires some familiarity with chipsets and sockets. Your B960 is on the same basic platform as a second gen Intel Core and operates on the HM65 chipset. Your motherboard on this model can take up to an i7- 2640M.
