From Crucial, you can use Crucial P1 series which are M.2 NVMe SSD products

Hi,

Yes, you can use an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD such as the Samsung 970 Evo Plus or similar of your desired capacity (there is no limit to capacity)

Examples:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-970-EVO-Plus-MZ-V7S1T0B/dp/B07MFZY2F2/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=970+evo+plu...

https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-SN750-500GB-Internal-Gaming/dp/B07MH2P5ZD/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=sn750&qid...

On page 37 of service manual you can see the steps to install the drive

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06250187

You will need to reinstall the OS on the SSD.

Hope it helps,

David
