my laptop is performing comparatively slower than expected after 2.5 years of using it, i want to add nvme ssd and install os over there and make the hdd only for file storage. Is it possible for my laptop hp15t-bs000 laptop? after brief research over internet i came to know that it has m.2 slot which is possible for sata ssd to fit in it; but i searched for available slots in motherboard through a software, it shows available pcie x4 slot. i searched over internet and found out that the slot pcie x4 can be used for nvme ssd(can you clear me on that?). likewise i am also confused that there we can get nvme m.2 ssd which must fit in the m.2 slot on motherboard but why does some software urges me for only m.2 sata ssd? Its matter of speed that why move only for 500 mbs read/write speed if we can go for 3500mbs read/write speed? i have attached some pics that shows availabily of slots. please reply anybody who knows

Hi,
You will first need to check if the slot is available on the motherboard as sometimes notebooks that did not come with M2 SSD are missing the physical slot.
On page 45 of service manual, you can see the step to remove the bottom cover

M2 slot
If the M2 slot is there it will only support M2 SATA3 SSD such as the M2 Samsung 860 Evo which will still be much faster than a regular hard drive.
It will not support M2 PCIe NVMe SSD.
Hope it helps,
David
