Hi,

I have an 15-cs0511sa laptop. I have a usb-c port and i am trying to connect it to a monitor that only has an hdmi port. I purchased a usb-c to hdmi cable from amazon but it is not working. Can anyone point me in the correct direction to get this to work.

has anyone solved this issue with their laptop? Ive tried adapters from ebay that claim to fix this but not working. I bought the laptop with the understanding the usb-c connector could be used to connect to a monitor. I have a samsung C27F390 curved monitor and tried a usb-c to hdmi cable in it but not working.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I see that you're trying to connect the monitor using USB 3.1 Type C.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

To get the answer to this question, Yes! The USB Type-C port does support the display output.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge)  have installed on the PC.

Here's how:

  1. First, you'll need a USB 3.0 to Video Adapter (USB 3.0 A to B cable included).
  2. Connect your computer to the USB to Video Adapter with your USB cable.
  3. Depending on the inputs available on your second monitorconnect it to the USB to Video Adapter with an HDMI, DVI-D or DVI to VGA cable.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for posting back.

There many different brands available in the market, But while shopping around you need to look for USB 3.0 to HDMI/DVI Adapter.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
