hard drive screw too tight and is now stripped - how to remove?

Its not the threads that are stripped but where you turn the screw with a Phillips screwdriver is all chewed up right? I have had luck with getting a very fine pointed pair of needle nose pliers and getting a grip on the outside edges of the screwhead. Also you can tap the screw by very carefully driving a very small drillbit into the top of the screw using an electric drill on low speed until it seizes and then turning the drillbit with pliers.
