Hi @Minato27,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Victus gaming laptop not displaying 144 Hz as an option, it could be due to settings, drivers, or hardware. Here are the steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Display Settings

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  • Scroll down to Advanced display settings.
  • Under Refresh rate, ensure 144 Hz is selectable for the display.
    • If 144 Hz isn't listed, proceed to the next steps.

2. Ensure Correct Connection

  • If you're using an external monitor, confirm:
    • It supports 144 Hz.
    • It's connected via a compatible cable (HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 and above).
  • If using the laptop’s screen:
    • Verify the laptop model supports 144 Hz on the internal display.

3. Update Graphics Drivers

  • For NVIDIA:
    1. Open GeForce Experience or download it from NVIDIA's website.
    2. Check for and install the latest drivers.
  • For Intel Integrated Graphics:
    1. Open Intel Driver & Support Assistant or download it from Intel's website.
    2. Update all drivers.
  • Restart the laptop after updating drivers.

4. Verify NVIDIA Control Panel Settings

  • Right-click on the desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Navigate to Change resolution under Display.
  • Select the laptop's display and ensure the refresh rate is set to 144 Hz.

5. Disable and Re-Enable Display Adapter

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click on your graphics card (e.g., NVIDIA or Intel) and select Disable device.
  • Wait for a moment, then right-click again and select Enable device.
  • Check if the issue is resolved.

6. Restore Default Graphics Settings

  • Open NVIDIA Control Panel or the respective Intel/AMD utility.
  • Restore the settings to default.
  • Restart your laptop and check the refresh rate.

7. Check Game Settings

  • Ensure the game supports 144 Hz.
  • Look for in-game graphics settings to select the refresh rate.

8. Run Diagnostics

  • Press F2 or Esc during startup to access HP Diagnostics.
  • Run a system check, especially for the display and GPU.

9. Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and ensure your system is fully updated.

10. Perform a Clean Install of GPU Drivers

  • Use a utility like Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove existing GPU drivers completely.
  • Reinstall the latest drivers from the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
