x360 14-ba175nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP X360 14-ba175nr and the manual shows it supports a max of 16 GB ram.  However,  I ran the HP OS check software and it says I currently have 8GB installed in bank 0 and bank 1 is empty and max supported memory is 32 GB.  Which is the correct, the manual or the HP software check.  I would love to be able to upgrade to 32 GB of ram if it is possible which the HP software seems to indicate I can.  Is it possible that it changed due to a bios or software update and the manual is now incorrect?  Thank you very much for any info you can provide.

:Looks like manual is correct and Crucial also says that

Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)

Maximum Memory: 16GB

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Standard Memory: 8GB removable

I know few people took a puch and they have been happy with 32GB.

Regards.

Do you have an idea why the HP system check would show 32 GB as maximum capacity?  It would seem the HP check would show just 16gbx360.jpg

Hi,

Your PC will support 32 GB of RAM (2x16GB) DDR4 2400Mhz

HP DDR4 systems with latest Core processors run with 32GB of RAM. Even though 16GB should be enough for most situations.

However, an upgrade which probably would be more noticeable in performance boost would be to install an M2 SATA3 SSD such as the M2 Samsung 860 Evo or similar. You could then install the OS and software on the SSD and keep the HDD for storage.

It is not the easiest hardware to install.

You could also replace the mechanical drive with a 2.5"SSD instead which will give the same performance boost.

Hope it helps,

David
