pavilion dv9500

I am in need of expert help. I am having a laptop model of HP pavilion dv9500, s/n: [edit]  p/n: GN376PA#ACJ, dv9502AU, Running on AMD, Turion 64 X2, NVIDIA graphics, Broad Com wireless.

The mother board of this laptop was dead. When I consulted service centres they replied me that the model is a failure and it is hopeless to repair it. So I dropped the idea and bought G6 model from HP with i3, radeon graphics.

After going through this forum I am so much impressed by your expertise. Now I want to reincarnate my laptop with change of mother board. Please kindly help me with the issues listed below.

Help required:

1. Suggest me the suitable motherboard for my laptop with part number.

2. Suggest the changes like change of heat sink, fan etc.

3. Give me links for drivers and the procedure to install the them. (I am a Surveyor doing things by DIY mode)

4. Suggest me suitable OS - Operating system (previously I was running the laptop with Win XP)

5. Mail me for further details. (Kindly bear with me)

That is a pretty big project. HP doesn't even post Service Guides with part numbers and such any longer for older models. Several years ago I helped  a lot of DV9000 series owners but about the only thing I clearly remember now is the infamous motherboard failures due to GPU solder breakdown. The series could run XP- Windows 7 pretty well. Nothing above Win 7.

You may be able to find some motherboards by doing a search for DV9000/DV9500 series at Ebay or other sources. Other members "may" be able to help more such as @Huffer

This is one of the models with the infamous GPU solder breakdown which caused black screen with all lights on, or reboot over and over or vertical lines on screen if it stayed on. You might want to check into GPU reflow:

Dear Cheryl,

Thank you for your reply.

My laptop is dead. even after pressing the power button it will react in no way. I approached the service centre (not hp) and they repaired the laptop. After a week or two it was dead again when I approached them they said I need to replace the mother board.

I would like to know wether intel mother board with inbuilt graphics or intel mother board with available spare of my laptop's nvidia graphics and processor could be used.

Please tell me the procedure to install drivers and os after replacing the mother board.

Dear Cheryl,

WITH REFERENCE TO THE PREVIOUS POST OF MINE-----

I expect your guidance to make my laptop work. I have posted my expectation to you in the previous post. You may suggest your ideas. All I have now with me is Basic assembly of laptop without motherboard working in it.

Before I jump in here I want to get a point across. Cheryl and I are volunteers and a carrot is going to get you a lot more help than a stick. I am not too interested in what you "expect" but I am as a volunteer willing to help if you promise to be nice and not try to give orders.

I have actually done the motherboard replacement you want to do on several occasions so I can help I think. A lot of time has passed since these units were current hardware and I am not sure how many resources are still out there to source motherboards. One thing I would need to know is where you live (country) so I know what parts market we would be dealing with.
