I had a similar problem with my Spectre x360 Convertible laptop. The case was warped and opened up on the sides partially exposing the CPU board. The bottom of the laptop was rounded and wouldn't close properly. I took it to the recommended HP Service Provider, Best Buy, and they would not help me. They stressed 'how dangerous' my expanded battery was and said I shouldn't have even brought it into the store. When I asked them how I should be transporting it, they said I should have sunk it in sand in case it catches fire. I told him that the HP site recommended them as my service provider but they refused to help me and recommended a local repair shop. Anyway, I did end up going to a small local computer repair shop and they were able to open it up, remove the swollen battery, and order me a new one. A few of the plastic clips that hold the case on to the back of the computer were broken but this did not affect the functionality of the laptop. I would suggest avoiding Best Buy altogether and find a small local shop if you have this problem. New Battery for mine is about $90 and cost of labor about $50 - way cheaper than buying a new laptop which is what I'm sure Best Buy was hoping for. Good luck!
