HP Warranty Start Date Incorrect – Amazon India Purchase (Commercial Product Issue)

I recently purchased a new HP laptop from Amazon India.
When I checked the warranty status on HP’s website using the correct serial number, it shows that the warranty was activated around 3 months before my actual purchase date.

So effectively, I’ve already lost ~3 months of warranty on a brand-new device.

What I’ve tried so far:

Contacted HP India chat support

Requested a warranty start date correction based on my Amazon invoice

The product is classified as a commercial product, so:

Online warranty dispute is not available


Chat support refused to proceed because:

The serial number is not mentioned on the Amazon invoice / payslip

 

The problem:

Amazon India retail tax invoices do NOT include product serial numbers (this is standard Amazon practice)

HP chat support insists the serial number must be present on the invoice/payslip

This creates a deadlock, because:

Amazon cannot add serial numbers to invoices

HP chat refuses manual verification

 

What I can provide:

Amazon Tax Invoice PDF

product details on the amazon packaging

Amazon Order ID

Correct device serial number (from BIOS / laptop sticker)

Photo of the laptop bottom label showing the serial number


Despite this, chat support says they “cannot proceed further” and asks for a “correct payslip with serial number”, which simply does not exist for Amazon purchases.

Hi Jomin,

Has your warranty mismatch issue been resolved? I’m currently facing the same problem. Amazon India is not providing an invoice with the laptop serial number, which is blocking the warranty correction.

Please let me know if your issue got resolved and how you managed it. Your guidance would really help.
