Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums After reading your post I see that you require assistance ram upgrades for your computer. It will be a delight to assist you here.
Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.
- Did you check the product specs of the machine?
- Did you check the service manual to see the amount of memory the machine supports?
For now, perform these steps:
- Product specs link: http://hp.care/2z1h6Xw
- This computer came preinstalled with 8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)
- Service manual link: http://hp.care/2yaRLXu
- Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following configurations
- ● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)
- ● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1)
- + (4096×1)
- ● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or
- (4096×2)
- ● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1)
- + (2048×1)
- ● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1)
- Please refer to pages 2, 48 and 49 for further assistance. It gives complete information on the maximum amount of supported RAM, the configuration that will be compatible with the motherboard, along with part numbers of the memory modules.
- It also gives information on how to remove and replace the RAM modules.
- Hope this answers your question.
- Please note that HP does not recommend hardware or software upgrades as the original configuration is optimized by HP for the best possible functionality. However, as you are technically inclined, this information is being furnished to you. Please consult a local Best Buy or Staples technician or any other technician before performing this upgrade so that there are no compatibility issues and everything is a smooth sail. I am keeping your best interest in mind.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂
