Hi !
just discovered that i can upgrade my laptop by adding an ssd to it.
i was planning to keep the 1TB hdd and use for storage..
i understand that i need to get m.2 sata ssd type. correct?
And I've got few questions
1. what's the maximum size supported by HP 15-bs158sa ? will 1tb work?
2. and what about the length of it? will M.2 Type-2280 fit ?
Here is what I found in manual:
Hard drives Supports 6.35-cm (2.5-in) SATA hard drives in 9.5-mm (.37-in) and 7.2-mm (.28-in) thicknesses
Support for SSD + HDD (not supported on Pentium/Celeron)
Support for m.2 SATA SSD (not supported on Pentium/Celeron)
Single hard drive conƭJuratLons
● 2-TB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 mm or 7.2-mm (not for Intel Pentium Silver N5000/Celeron N4000 processors)
● 1-TB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 mm or 7.2 mm
● 500-GB, 5400 rpm, 7.0-mm
eMMC conƭJuratLons (not for Intel Pentium Silver N5000/Celeron N4000 processors):
● 128 GB
M.2 SATA-3 conƭJuratLons (value) (not for Intel Pentium Silver N5000/Celeron N4000 processors):
● 256 GB
● 128 GB
M.2 SATA-3 conƭJuratLons (TLC) (not for Intel Pentium Silver N5000/Celeron N4000 processors):
● 512 GB
● 256 GB
● 128 GB
Dual storage conƭJuratLons (Intel Core processors only)
● 256 GB Value SSD + 1 TB HDD
● 128 GB Value SSD + 1 TB HDD
does it mean that i can only install 256GB ssd?
And 3. SLC, MLC, TLC flash or 3D NAND ...... which one will work?

Hi:
Below is the link to the crucial memory/SSD report for your model.
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-15-bs158sa
According to the report, it will take a 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD.
I would open up the notebook first and confirm that there is a M.2 slot present before buying a SSD.
If you look at chapter 3, page 19, there are two parts that the models in the series that came with M.2 SSD's from the factory have, and yours may not...
(20) Solid-state drive board 924992-001
(21) Solid-state drive bracket 924981-001

Is it the only way to find out? I'm gonna open it up next week as i'm upgrading RAM and was hoping to upgrade two things at the same time ...
Does it mean that not every HP 15-bs158sa has it?
ive seen video on youtube of that model and it had m.2
