Hi @durgaswathi,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I can imagine how concerning it must be to notice unusual fan behavior and overheating on your laptop. Let’s identify the issue and work on a solution to keep your device running smoothly.
- Have you noticed any unusual noises coming from the fan, such as grinding or clicking sounds?
- Is the overheating issue happening during specific tasks, like gaming or using resource-intensive applications?
- Have you tried cleaning the vents or checked if dust buildup could be obstructing the fan?
- Are you getting any error messages?
Let's try these steps.
Inspect the Fan and Ventilation:
- Use compressed air to carefully clean the vents and fan area. Ensure the laptop is powered off and disconnected from any power source before cleaning.
Check Fan Status in BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing Esc, F2, or F10 during boot). Look for any fan-related diagnostics or temperature monitoring options.
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS and system drivers for your laptop model. Updated firmware can resolve fan control issues.
Run Hardware Diagnostics:
- Use the built-in HP hardware diagnostics tool. Restart the laptop and press F2 during startup to access the diagnostics. Run the Fan Test or Thermal Test to identify issues.
Consider Professional Repair:
- If the fan continues to malfunction, it may need to be repaired or replaced. Contact HP Support or a certified technician for further assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
