HP Notebook - 15-bs658tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

when scrolling down, the screen zooms in and out unexpectedly. Some keys don't work properly; pressing "R" causes a refresh, and pressing "P" triggers printing and other unwanted functions. Additionally, when pressing "Ctrl+Alt+Delete," the system temporarily functions correctly for a few minutes but then reverts to the same problems.

Hi @rakeshsinghgith ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're describing with your HP Notebook - 15-bs658tu could be related to hardware or software issues, such as a malfunctioning keyboard or misconfigured system settings.

Here are steps you can try to diagnose and resolve the issue:

1. Check for Stuck Keys

  • Press each key on the keyboard to ensure none are stuck, especially Ctrl, Alt, or Fn, which could cause unusual behavior like zooming or triggering unwanted shortcuts (e.g., "R" for refresh or "P" for print).

2. Update/Reinstall Keyboard Drivers

  • Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause issues with key functions. To update or reinstall the keyboard driver:
    1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand the Keyboards section.
    3. Right-click on your keyboard device and choose Uninstall device.
    4. Restart your computer, and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

You can also update the driver manually by selecting Update driver instead of uninstalling.

3. Check Touchpad Settings

If the screen zooms in and out unexpectedly while scrolling, it could be due to touchpad gesture settings:

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Devices > Touchpad.
  3. Check if any multi-finger gestures (like pinch-to-zoom) are enabled. Disable them if necessary.

4. Run Hardware Troubleshooter

  • Windows has built-in troubleshooters that might help:
    1. Open Settings with Win + I.
    2. Navigate to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    3. Select Keyboard and run the troubleshooter to identify and fix any issues.

5. Check for Malware or Corrupt Files

Malware or corrupt system files can also cause erratic behavior. You can scan your system using:

  • Windows Defender or a third-party antivirus.
  • Run System File Checker:
    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd," right-click, and select "Run as administrator").
    2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan for and repair any corrupted system files.

6. Test an External Keyboard

  • To rule out hardware issues with the built-in keyboard, connect an external USB keyboard. If the external keyboard works fine, it could indicate a problem with your laptop's keyboard hardware.

7. Reset Keyboard Shortcuts (Sticky Keys)

  • Check if Sticky Keys or Filter Keys are enabled:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Ease of Access Center.
    2. Click Make the keyboard easier to use and ensure Sticky Keys or Filter Keys are turned off.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
