hp 14 dq1033cl
I purchased this laptop and it has a hard drive slot and an 8 pin ribbon cable holder, but the ribbon and the sata connector are missing. Where can I buy the ribbon cable and sata connector for this laptop?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
You may order the replacement parts on the HP Parts Store, use the HP Parts Surfer to find the part number and if you've already looked for it and couldn't find it on the HP Parts Store, you may want to get it locally at the online store such as Amazon or eBay, etc...as the part numbers are universal.
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

I posted the question here because it was not written in the user manual, the repair guide, nor on the website. I do not have a part number to work with. I can send you pictures of where it would fit.
I have found several parts on sale in ebay for a very similar connector, but unfortunately it was too short for this device. I would like to know which part number fits this device.

@grassmudhorse The ribbon cable and Sata connector ideally comes with the purchase of the hard drive, depending on what connectors you've got on the hard drive, that said, if the connector is different from the one offered by your laptop, you can always get a converted from the local online store to make the necessary changes!
Also, this device was shipped with an SSD configuration and doesn't offer a HDD upgrade, there are no drivers tested for this device, you can alternatively upgrade the SSD instead, here's the list of parts tested and approved for your device:
(As an upgrade/custom enthusiast I personally love the idea of upgrading the device as well, However, HP recommends that you go easy on it as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgradeable parts listed in HP articles are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion)
I hope that answers your query,

I have the same exact laptop and question. There is SPACE to add a 2.5 SSD as well as a SATA 8 pin port. I am astonished that HP cannot provide support for this question. I have checked on line and at multiple local stores and cannot find a 6 inch or longer 8 pin SATA ribbon cable. This laptop comes with a m.2 SSD but as the board also has the additional port, there should be a cable somewhere. Please HP, assist with this question. I would also presume this board is in other models that have 2,5 SSD instead of M.2.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help
SATA cables are common and you should be able to purchase one from any computer store
BUT this Notebook comes with an an M.2 SSD Hard drive and does not use the regular SATA Ribbon cable
