Well here is the Service Manual:
All models except the lower end Pentium and Celeron have 2 memory slots and can take up to 16 gigs (2 x 😎 of DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM. The lower end models have a single slot holding up to a single 8 gig module and use DDR3L-1600 memory.
Memory access and upgrade is shown on page 37 of the Manual linked above.
The DDR4-2400 does downclock to 2133 speed but you should only install DDR4-2400. An additional 4 gig module would be cost effective and would have a very positive effect on performance.
