CQ56-111sa is the model number and it originally shipped with 3 gigs of RAM.

The memory is ancient DDR2-800. The max it can take is 2 x 4 gig  modules but unfortunately DDR2 is very expensive. A pair of DDR2-800 4 gig modules will set you back well over $100US. And frankly, it would be a poor investment as the laptop is so very seriously limited by the rest of the hardware.

Page 44 of the Service Manual shows "how to" install memory:

Manual

If you still have 3 gigs it would be worthwhile to upgrade to 4 gigs.

You would need to replace the 1 gig module with a 2 gig module:

https://www.amazon.com/2048MB-Samsung-Original-PC2-6400-SO-DIMM/dp/B0026SD96G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid...

The post above links to crucial.com. Ignore that link as it is showing DDR3 which is wrong. The Kingston link is correct.

Post back with any more questions.

Edited, the case is a crucial page problem, not the user. Thanks
