@Japhem, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP 2024 Ryzen laptop's cooling fan isn't working, here are some steps you can follow to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Check for Fan Noise or Movement

  • Power on your laptop and listen closely near the vents.
  • If you don’t hear any fan noise or feel air movement, the fan might be stuck or not receiving power.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides built-in diagnostics to test hardware components, including the fan.

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Press the power button, then immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  4. Select Component Tests > Fan and run the test.

Clean the Vents

Dust buildup can block the fan. Use a can of compressed air to gently blow out dust from the vents. Avoid using a vacuum cleaner.

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve hardware glitches.

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Disconnect all external devices and unplug the power adapter.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power and turn the laptop back on.

BIOS Update

An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause fan control issues.

Physical Inspection (Advanced)

If you're comfortable opening the laptop:

  • Power off and unplug the device.
  • Remove the back panel and inspect the fan for dust or physical damage.
  • Gently spin the fan with a soft tool to check for resistance.

If none of these steps resolve the issue,we suggest you please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
