The Manuals for that model series are hard to find. This is a version of it and only lists Quad Cores, including the one you ask about. I know your model has an i3-330M. On some versions with that CPU, the CPU is soldered to the board.

Find the HP Part Number of the motherboard usually on a sticker near the memory slots. If its the same as the one in the Service Manual I sent you, then you are good to go.

It might work. Your board comes up as for a dv6-3000 and some of those had an i7-820QM so give it a try before you throw in the towel.

I just googled the motherboard part number but if you want to dive deeper you can check the HP Parts Store and it will give you a list of all models a particular part number was used in.

Intel i7-740QM Quad-Core 1.73GHz Laptop CPU Processor SLBQG <<< for any one wanting to upgrade the same motherboard use this one if it fits your needs.... It performs great!!!
