Hi @Anjan1952,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact HP model number of your laptop or desktop.
  • The version of Windows you’re currently running (Windows 10 or Windows 11).
  • Any error messages you’ve seen related to the hard disk or partitions.
  • Whether the system is still booting normally or if you’re facing startup issues.

 Troubleshooting Steps You Can Try

  • Check Disk Health:
    1. Press Windows + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
    2. In Command Prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter.
    3. Restart your PC  this will scan and attempt to fix disk errors.
  • Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Restart your PC and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run a System Test or specifically a Hard Drive Test to check for hardware issues.
  • Rebuild Windows Search Index:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Indexing Options.
    2. Click Advanced, then select Rebuild.
    3. This may take some time but often resolves search problems.
  • Check Disk Management:
    • Press Windows + X and select Disk Management.
    • Verify if partitions are showing correctly and note any “Unallocated” space or errors.
  • Update Drivers and BIOS:
  • Visit the https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers  for your model and check for the latest storage drivers and BIOS updates.

If the hard disk shows signs of failure during diagnostics, I strongly recommend backing up your important data immediately.

I hope this helps.
