Your recovery disk is fine. The BIOS will have no effect on it.

Download win10 media creation tool,
Write the update to an extenal USB or HD,
Turn on Airplane mode,
Then update!

This worked like a charm for me.

Downloaded 1709 today from the "get the early version" link on the settings update & security  page, and an hour or so later the update finished installing. This is the 13 x360 convertible. After redoing many of the settings, everything seems to be working.
