You're very welcome.

The product number you posted indicates that you have a HP PAVILION DV2728CA ENTERTAINMENT NOTEBOOK PC.

HP has retired support for the dv2000, dv6000, and dv9000 model series since they are over 10 years old.

Below are the links to the major drivers you need...

Chipset:  Install this driver first and restart the PC.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37730.exe

Graphics:  You will most likely have to manually install the graphics driver as follows...download and run this graphics driver.

You will probably get an unsupported operating system error.   Close out of any error windows.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37860.exe

Go to the device manager.  Click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.  Click on the Standard VGA Adapter listed there.  Note:  it may also be showing up in the device manager under the Other Devices category as a Video Controller. Anyway, click on either of those.  Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.  That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp37860.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.   Then restart the PC.

Audio:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39501-40000/sp39679.exe

Touchpad:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37855.exe

SD card reader:

Wifi:

Modem:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37859.exe

If there are any other drivers missing, please let me know what they are, and post the hardware ID's for them.

Hi:

This driver should have installed that device...

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37872.exe

If not, go to the device manager, click on the PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843 device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.  That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp37872.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.  Then restart the PC.

Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file, which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted.

well Paul I have carried out all your suggestions, the only thing remaining seems to be a wireless keyboard but I have not such a gear.

Thank you very much, I could not have succeeded without you.

I will test some more and will comme back if anything springs up with this otherwise fine piece of gear, I am eigthy and still kicking and dont know why a 10 year old such as my Pavilion should not kick too -  cheers and thanks again
