x360 keyboard and touch pad locked when placed on side

any replies on your side?

I and sure it is a software thing, as the keyboard and touch pad gets turned off (when laptop is placed on its side) just like when you are going into tablet mode, however I have set the display settings to ensure that the laptop always stays in laptop mode and doesn't rotate the screen and go into tablet mode. SO

Any more ideas or is this a bug in windows 10 where for 2-1 laptops the keyboard get turned to its side?

I had escalated the case to our next level and they, in turn, have escalated the case to the engineering team. I am still waiting for an update on this.

We have followed up on this issue again today and I would be updating you as soon as I get a reply on this.

I have an update from the engineering team and this issue apparently is by its design.

Any time the unit is placed on its side, it will automatically disable the keyboard and touchpad. 

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

I am still trying to understand why. Yes it is designed like that,. but why... for what purpose? Also whyis there an option to disable that?

Can you ask them why  a convertable laptop disables the keyboard/touchpad when it is in Laptop mode and placed on its side..? Isn't that why you have the option to choose to switch between laptop and tablet mode as that will disable the keyboard and touch pad?

Thanks Dvortex. I have also Queried the Windows 10 site, and they say it is likely to be a HP thing. FYI, A Dell 13 which also has touch screen does not do such.

It will be interesting to know if other convertable laptops do what HP does. ie stops the keyboard and touch pad functioning when in laptop mode and on it's side.

The only way I've discovered to get around this problem is to go into Device Manager, find "Intel(R) Integrated Sensor Solution" under "System Devices" and disable it. The laptop will no longer know when it is on its side and so will no longer shut off the keyboard and trackpad. Of course you will have to re-enable it if you later do want to use your Spectre as a tablet.

as a consumer who had paid top dollar for a laptop why should one compromise? Appreciate your workaround for the rest of us to know.

So my x360, it took them two months to discover that they were nto able to fix the problem, so for two months I was without a laptop. Was not a happy man at all...

Hopefully they fixed it in the newly x360 release.
