HP Envy 17.3” Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an HP Envy 17.3” Laptop last August and the warranty runs out in a few days. A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a 2-year extended warranty and this was confirmed. Yet I have heard nothing since. I have raised a ticket but, again, no response.

I just tried HP's on-line Chat. It turned out to be a "virtual" agent with less education than my cat. I started the chat with:

"my extended warranty hasn't been confirmed".

And this is what the idiot agent replied:

"HP is donating millions of dollars in technology and support through a concerted effort across Personal Systems and Print to help students, families and communities. As part of these efforts, all consumer product warranties expiring between March 1 and April 30 will be automatically extended for 30 days."

Is there any way of contacting a real human being at HP? Their on-line chat facility is a joke. I've tried using it before but the stupid things always answers something different to what I asked.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that I did report this via HP's warranty dispute page. I provided full details and uploaded a scan of the "proof of purchase" and immediately received an automated response with a Ticket No.

This was on 31 July 2020. It is now 11 August 2020 and I have received nothing further. My original 1-year warranty expires today.

BTW, the link you provided (www.hp.com/contacthp/) is broken.

Please look for a private message from me requesting additional information. Keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Hi The_Fossette,

My 2-year extended warranty has at last come through from HP Support, so thanks for your help.

Interestingly, a couple of days ago (while waiting), a screen popped up on my laptop offering me the 2-year extended warrant again, but this time at a 20% discount. I emailed HP Support to request a 20% refund (as I had paid the full price) but they refused, saying I'd already placed the order. Why didn't they offer me the lower price originally? It feels like punishment for trying to be a good customer.

And I still don't know what the original problem was. My laptop has always shown up correctly when I enter its serial number into HP's warranty-checker web page. HP has always had full details of my laptop since August 2019 when I first registered it.

Still, thanks once again for your help.
