I'm using a HP 14z-fq0000. One day it was working fine, the next it broke. It powers on and gives a light code but the display won't turn on. It only powers on when the charging cable is plugged in and not without it. I'm wondering if it's possible to reset this PC without the display-is there some kind of built in backup to reset in situations like this? My main goal is to get this thing working again even if it means a hard reset.

The light code is 5 long white blinks, 3 short white blinks. When I looked this up it indicated a BIOS issue. Not sure what to do with that information.

What are my options?

I'll provide more info if more is needed.

Thanks for reading

Please try a hard reset and see if it works.

  • Power off your notebook,
  • Remove the a/c adapter, battery and everything that is attached to your notebook,
  • Hold the 'POWER' button down on your notebook for about 10 seconds,
  • Plug in the a/c power supply (without battery) and power on.

Regards.
