EliteBook 8570p
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Ok, so I have been using the 8570p i5 and tried to swap the HD into the i7 8570p.
Result: tries to boot Windoze, then fast blue screen, followed by "System Recovery" screen, which fails

to fix the problem.

Similarly, if I take the HD from the i7 and put it in the i5, SAME RESULT!

Clearly, there's something going on that is logical, but I do not know what it is.
HOW do I make the i5 drive work on the i7 machine??

Oh, it's likely that the firmware on the i7 machine is newer or equal to the firmware on
the i5 machine. (if this actually is a firmware issue, I can update both machines.)

Anyone KNOW what is going on? 😄

(my expectation was that the OS would find where it was and auto-configure...)

The OS is at a lost when you do this...

You may think the only different parts is the CPU ( i5 VS i7 )  But lots of stuff is going in the background.   Its just the wrong hardware drivers are in place.
If you think of the hardware like cars... If your Driver doesn't know how to driver it... Then it tries to load them... Then CRASH!!!

You will have backup the data on the HD then install windows.

I'm Just a User like you!
Hope this helps!

Seems wrong to me. Hope some with expertise will come by.

Ought to be possible, at the minimum to drop the required drivers on the HD, using the machine that they are working in, and then boot on the other... Somehow I seem to recall NOT having this sort of issue back with XP when swapping drives around. Maybe needing to pick up a driver for some onboard bit of hardware, but not to boot Windoze.

Tnx.

It is possible... just backup the date then reinstall windows...

if you need to swap data all the time between the 2 then put it on a USB hard drive. When XP was around it was even worst. If windows saw to many hardware changes you would have to call them, and verify your PC as to curb piracy.
